MoneyGram International is a service, similar to Western Union that allows people to send money worldwide to loved ones or in exchanges for goods and services. MoneyGram offers two basic services – international money transfers and money orders. MoneyGram is one of the largest and most-respected issuers of money orders, offering secure transfers and a great program for money order mishaps (when money orders get lost or stolen in the mail). Like Western Union, MoneyGram also offers some bill payment and express-payment options for specialized services.
MoneyGram has grown considerably in recent years, fueled by the internet boom. MoneyGram products and services are used in over 100,000 agent locations worldwide. With advances in both the internet and in POS (point-of-sale) systems, MoneyGram has grown steadily since the 1980s. MoneyGram places the importance in the individual and in completing each transaction seamlessly. For instance, just recently, Brooks-Eckerd pharmacies approved adding MoneyGram services to 1,550 locations – furthering MoneyGram’s market presence.
